"Medicare Compliance: How It Affects Attorneys and Their Clients Involved in Litigation" CLE program on 8/27/09

The CLE will discuss the recent case of United States of America v. Paul J. Harris, United States District Court, Northern District of West Virginia, Civil Action No. 5:08CV102, that highlights the importance of lawyers taking Medicare’s interests seriously in litigating cases. In this case the attorney representing the Medicare beneficiary was informed by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (“CMS”) that this complaint was filed against him for failure to file an appeal and for failing to pay CMS within the statutorily-required 60-day time period.
