Daniel R. Delaney is Senior Counsel with Dickie, McCamey & Chilcote, P.C. He concentrates his practice in the area of employment and labor law, among other related areas, before governmental agencies, state and federal labor boards, and trial and appellate courts with the state and federal systems.
With an emphasis on labor and employment law and health law, Mr. Delaney has represented business entities including a multi-state conglomerate, corporations, and proprietors on behalf of management in the private sector in response to union organizing efforts, representation elections, collective bargaining, labor injunctions before state and federal courts, grievance arbitration and appeals, trial court and appellate court, and NLRB matters. He also represents management on age, sex and disabilities discrimination actions, wrongful discharge claims, and affirmative action plans for compliance with the applicable law. Mr. Delaney serves as outside general counsel for a multistate elder care nonprofit corporation that operates continuing care retirement communities. Acceptable to both management and labor, Mr. Delaney is frequently selected in the tri state area to hear and to decide disputes as a Labor Arbitrator from panels of the American Arbitration Association and the Pennsylvania Bureau of Mediation.
Mr. Delaney is a member of and frequent lecturer for the Pennsylvania Bar Institute. He periodically serves as the course planner of various public employee labor law seminars. In addition, he participates as an active member of the labor and employment law sections of the American, Pennsylvania, and Allegheny County Bar Associations and their various labor and employment committees. He is admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court, the Federal District Courts of Pennsylvania, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. He was named to The Register of Preeminent Lawyers™ and has maintained an AV® Preeminent™ Peer Review Rating from Martindale-Hubbell since 1980. In addition, Mr. Delaney was named to the Pennsylvania Super Lawyers® as one of the top attorneys in Pennsylvania.
For public service, Mr. Delaney has served as a member of the Greater Pittsburgh Advisory Board of The Salvation Army since 1998 and currently serves as its Chairman since his election in 2005. He is a member of the Fox Chapel Adult Education Board and has served as the President and member of the Pittsburgh Mediation Center, a non-profit community-based service agency.
Mr. Delaney received his A.B., cum laude, in 1965 from the University of Pittsburgh and his Juris Doctor from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law in 1968, where he served as the Editor-in-Chief of the Pitt Law Record, as a member on the Appellate Moot Court Board, and received the American Jurisprudence Award. While an undergraduate, Mr. Delaney was tapped into Omicron Delta Kappa [ODK - National Leadership Honorary] and Pi Sigma Alpha, the National Political Science Honorary for undergraduate and graduate students. |
