April R. Burnette is an associate of Dickie, McCamey & Chilcote, P.C. She concentrates her practice in the area of Insurance Defense, with a particular emphasis in Workers' Compensation.

Ms. Burnette is a member of the Florida Bar Association and is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of Florida.

Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Burnette practiced as an associate attorney representing insurance carriers and employers in workers' compensation matters in South Florida. She also served as a judicial clerk for the Honorable Joel Brown, 11th Judicial Circuit, Miami, Florida. Ms. Burnette is a former member of the Student Education and Admission to the Bar Committee for the Florida Bar.

Ms. Burnette graduated from the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill in 1996 with a B.A. in History, where she received the Academic Achievement Award and the Don Matheson Citizenship & Community Service Scholarship. While there she was a minority student recruiter, a member of the Theta Pi Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., a member of the Order of the Bell Tower, and was a volunteer for numerous organizations including Yolk Fellows and the Big Sister program for the City of Durham.

Ms. Burnette received her J.D. from Florida State University College of Law in 1999 where she received the Florida Bar Foundation Public Service Fellowship and worked as an intern for the Honorable Barbara Pariente of the Florida Supreme Court. Additionally, she studied abroad at Oxford University and served as a Guardian Ad Litem volunteer, College of Law peer advisor, and a member of the Student Bar Association.
